Course on Electric probes

Langmuir probes are one of the simplest diagnostics to construct for plasma characterization. However, data analysis and interpretation may be complicated as probes perturb the plasma. Langmuir probes are widely used in the plasmas physics experiments as they allows the determination of a large variety of plasma parameters (some of them only possible with probes).

In this lecture the theory of the electrical probes will be briefly introduced and examples of applications presented. Lectures will include analysis of probe data from ISTTOK where probes are routinely used to measure the edge plasma parameters.
